About the business The Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Electron Microscopy (EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, and ultimately change the world. The MSD Electron Microscopy (EM)business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflow solutions that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. The purpose of Field Service Engineering function is to provide technical support and assistance to customers in the field. Field Service Engineers take care of installing, maintaining, fixing, and repairing equipment or systems, ensuring their efficient performance. They work directly with customers to address their needs, answer questions, and resolve any issues that may arise. The ultimate goal is to ensure customer happiness by delivering high-quality service and increasing the efficiency and availability of the products / solutions provided. The role We are looking for you to strengthen the Field Service Team for our Electron Microscopy Service organization in the EMEA region. You will have your place of living in Germany. The EM-Academy Engineer role is a starting position within the MSD Electron Microscopy Services organization and is aimed for a person with a desire to become a field service engineer. The work consists of a specific 9-month training and development program with multiple formal instructor-led training courses at our global training centers alongside extensive time of on-the-job learning in the assigned region with more experienced engineer mentors. Within the 9-month EM-Academy Graduate Program we are expecting you to travel extensively within the region to gain invaluable technical skills in electron microscopy and experience in field service activities on a variety of electron microscopy systems. Upon completion of the graduate program EM-Academy Engineers advance into Field Service Engineer positions delivering outstanding customer service for our Electron Microscopy customers in your assigned service area. What will you do? Travel across region to customer sites performing primarily planned activities including on-site installation, and preventive maintenance. Timely and accurate recording of your activities. Document the work done and works according to standard operating procedures. Provide continuous feedback to team members stiving for continuous improvement and alignment with the objectives. Finish the assigned training courses and pass the end of program performance and skills review. Complete the 9-month EM Academy Graduate Program Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with Thermofisher Scientific colleagues and customers assuring the highest level of customer experience. Ensure full commitment and compliance to follow company policies including all position specific Health and Safety laws and procedures. What will you need? An advanced technical degree in mechatronics, mechanical / electrical / electronic, or any equivalent engineering major. (Technikerschule oder Meister) Graduates within the last 24 months or expected to graduate before the program start date preferred. Able to obtain a valid passport and travel frequently as required up to 80% Must have a valid driver's license class B. IT skills in Microsoft Windows and Office environments. Good English language skills in word and writing. Interest in technology with motivation to develop skills and knowledge in service engineering. Attention to detail with good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to carry out precision mechanical work.
