This position is based in Munich and reports to a Senior Design Engineer. The position is a hybrid role, with 4 days required on-site. The Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for working within the Mechanical Design Engineering group and within project teams to develop mechanical design solutions associated with the product offerings being developed by LumaVision. The solutions incorporate complex mechatronic assemblies that are involved in the actuation of medical devices that are used within the vasculature of the patient. Product solutions are fully designed in-house and are formed from a strung understanding of the clinical environment and user needs. Complete design solutions are then subject to design verification and validated before being before being introduced into clinical practice. This complete design life cycle provides opportunity for engineers to be involved with all development stages from conception through to commercialization.. YOUR ROLE WILL BE TO: • Assist in the development of sub-system requirements • Develop design solutions to meet documented design inputs and requirements. • Develop solutions from concept creation, selection, prototyping to a product integration. • A hands-on approach to test and iteration of ideas in test lab. • Use of OnShape to model and specify design components and assemblies • Create drawings and models that suppliers can use to create physical parts • Confirm that received parts conform to drawings and models • Generate test protocols to demonstrate the design output meet the inputs • Generate test reports • Peer review of drawings and models • Work to LUMA Vision’s standard operating procedures as defined in the QMS • Participate in design reviews WHAT YOU OFFER • A proficiency in a parametric modelling package – ideally OnShape • A Bachelor’s degree in a subject related to mechanical design • Have ability to read and understand engineering drawings • Have the ability to create engineering drawings • Have an understanding of revision controls • Have understanding of additive manufacturing technologies • Understand the concept of design controls • Understand how to document assemblies • Have understanding of DFx (DFA, DFM etc) • Have experience with mechatronic design & assemblies • Have experience in the medical device industry or some other regulated industry • Have experience in project plan creation • Have experience with FEA & DOE • Be capable of working in a collaborative team environment • Be comfortable communicating with people at all levels of the organization and across different departments • Be willing to work on-site (office based) at least 4 days per week • Be capable of working with external manufacturing partners • Be willing to assist in the assembly of mechanical systems • Be willing to take the lead on the development of components or sub-assemblies • Be willing to help in the upkeep and maintenance of the mechanical engineering lab WHAT WE OFFER • Working on cutting-edge imaging systems to the direct benefit of patients and improving healthcare. • Becoming part of a dynamic, multi-national team of highly skilled individuals with a very strong focus on team culture and individual development. • A learning environment where you can extend and build upon your skills and interests. • Flexible working environment and an international culture as well as offices in Germany and Ireland.
