Job Description As a Senior Control & Protection Engineering Manager, you will be leading an engineering team of HVDC Control & Protection Systems and Control Automation Systems. You will support the design and implementation of HVDC Control & Protection Systems by analyzing customer requirements, assessing the necessary deviations from standard solutions, and providing technical solutions that meet project delivery and tender objectives. Key Responsibilities: Developing organizational talent Engineering process management Providing technical guidance Driving consistent design practices and common global processes for projects Interfacing with customers Essential Responsibilities: Leading a team that designs, develops, configures, and verifies HVDC Control & Protection Systems Driving consistent design practices and common global processes for project implementation Providing technical solutions that meet project and tender objectives Development of PSCAD Network Model, Control MATLAB application Model, Control system block diagram, ONM Manuals, MATLAB application unit, and system integration testing PSSE/PSCAD and PSSE/RSCAD Power system network conversion, modeling, and verification HVDC System in electromagnetic transient tools like PSCAD, EMTP-RV, etc. Plant modeling in various simulation tools (MATLAB, RSCAD, PSCAD, etc.) and its verification Dynamic performance studies using both offline and online simulation tools Control parameters tuning to meet grid stability criteria specified in customer technical specifications Algorithm and state machine development in MATLAB Simulink Conversion of MATLAB Simulink algorithms to other suitable time domain library models Executing and providing guidance for the analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices, and procedures, and the product/program requirements Supporting improvements to existing algorithms/strategies for power fault recovery or instability issues during DPS studies Ensuring that project plans contain the necessary activities and studies required to meet the requirements of the customer and the proposed technical solution Recruiting, coaching, and/or developing organizational talent Providing direction and/or guidance to exempt specialists and/or supervisory staff who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. May supervise non-exempt employees Managing the engineering resources, workload, schedule, and project milestones Playing a key role in engineering design reviews and technical leadership, identifying potential project risks and technical weaknesses, and proposing safe, reliable, and compliant solutions Working closely with internal and external customers to arrive at engineering specifications that optimize the commercial potential of new and existing products Keeping the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision-making and action Building strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives Developing and executing organizational and operational policies that affect one or more groups by utilizing technical/professional knowledge and skills Defining the project work breakdown structure (WBS), resources, and skill levels required to meet the delivery timescales Qualifications / Essential Requirements: Engineering degree or equivalent, including power systems and power electronics subjects, or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in the HVDC business More than 10 yearsu2019 experience in the HVDC industry, including HVDC station equipment and design Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage team organizational risks Proven skills in managing and leading a team with a strong technical background Experienced in Protection & Control system design application and have strong problem-solving skills Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
